Today we have lasers and light sources that can quickly and effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted facial and body hair permanently with minimal discomfort. Typically a wand like hand piece is passed over the skin, the hand piece emits a light that disables the hair follicles. Most patients will perceive the light as a gentle snapping sensation on the skin. Once this is completed the treated area will be wiped away and any loose hair will be removed. Typically there is mild pinkness or redness that subsides within a matter of hours. Average sessions range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
In most cases patients will return after one to two months for repeat sessions until the hair in the particular area is permanently reduced.
