SURGICAL PROCEDURES: More About Hair Restoration
More to Know

For most patients, transplanted hair will last and keep growing for a lifetime. However, hair restoration does not change your body’s genetic programming or counteract the natural thinning of hair that occurs with aging. You may continue to lose hair.

Transplanted hair is generally not susceptible to loss from androgenetic alopecia. That’s because even though it’s been moved to a part of your scalp that was formerly bald, the hair follicle retains its resistance to DHT (the hormone that causes the hair loss).

If hair loss becomes more than anticipated or you are unhappy with the results of your transplant, talk to a surgeon about additional surgery to correct the problem.
